The Department of Psychology at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a 9.5-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates must have a PhD from an accredited institution in Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or Applied Psychology, along with a strong program of research and training in Quantitative Methods.

Interested candidates will be expected to teach existing courses and develop new courses in their area of specialization. Undergraduate courses include:  Social Psychology, History & Systems of Psychology, General Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, and Applied Psychology. Graduate courses include:  Advanced Quantitative Methods related to psychosocial research, Applied Statistical Inference, Principles of Foundation and Measurement, Test Construction, and courses in area of specialization. Responsibilities also include academic advisement of students, establishing a program of research with undergraduate and graduate students, and contribution to the department through research, publications, and service.  

The Department of Psychology is the largest department in the College of Liberal Arts with over 600 undergraduate majors and a graduate program in Psychometrics.  The Department has research facilities available to faculty and students including laboratories in cognition, psychophysiology, psychometrics, an animal research facility, and observational facilities for social and developmental research. Minimum Qualifications          

Candidates must have a PhD from an accredited institution in Social Psychology, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or Applied Psychology, along with a strong program of research and training in Quantitative Methods. A minimum of one year teaching experience as the instructor of record, an established record of research, and research funding.   All But Dissertation (ABD) candidates will be given consideration.

Other Preferences for Consideration  

Preference will be given to candidates who meet the minimum qualifications with post-doctoral experiences and a strong background in quantitative and experimental methods.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, scholarly research and publication, and mentoring undergraduate & graduate students. Candidates will be expected to teach primarily in the Undergraduate Program, with occasional teaching in the Graduate Program in Psychometrics. Additionally, candidates will be expected to supervise and mentor students, secure research funding, and contribute to the development of on-line courses.

Additional materials include evidence of effective teaching (e.g., syllabi, one page summary of teaching evaluations, etc) and representative reprints or preprints.  Applicants will not be considered until all required documents, including reference letters, have been received by the search committee.
