Description

The Management Division at Columbia Business School is pleased to announce that it is seeking to hire a qualified postdoctoral research scholar in the Faculty of Business. The appointment will initially be for one year but is renewable for up to three years in total based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

The postdoctoral research scholar will be expected to concentrate on their own research and collaborate on projects of mutual interest with faculty in the Management Division, and to be active participants in the School’s scholarly community. In addition, the postdoctoral research scholar will be mentored in and expected to teach the Managerial Negotiations course in the Business School starting with one section in the second semester of their first year, and continuing with one section in each of the following semesters of their employment. Teaching schedules will be set by the School.

Qualifications

The position requires a strong background in psychological and behavioral research methods. The candidate will be exposed to a mix of basic and applied research and to the teaching that occurs in a business school. Applicants must have a PhD degree prior to their start date in a relevant social science field, such as psychology, economics, sociology, organizational behavior, management, or related social science fields from an accredited institution and a record of being an outstanding scholar. The primary criterion for selecting the scholar will be academic excellence, fit with the research interests of the division, interest in and commitment to teaching in a Business School, and/or evidence of successful teaching.

Salary and Pay Transparency Disclosure

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.

Proof of Degree Requirements

Candidates for this position are required to provide proof of their PhD degree. If a candidate has already received their degree, they will need to forward a copy of their diploma, or transcript. If the candidate has not yet received their degree, they will need to provide a letter of dissertation/conferral for PhD with date which degree will be granted from the granting institution on official letterhead. The expected date of conferral must be prior to OR on the start date. Without proof of PhD degree, Columbia Business School cannot process the hire and the candidate cannot start the Postdoctoral Research Scholar position.
