POSITION DESCRIPTION: The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We especially welcome applications from scholars who have research interests in health, social, or cultural psychology, or any combination of those three areas. Research foci that span areas and capitalize on the unique placement of UTEP on the U.S.-Mexico border will be given special consideration. The anticipated appointment start date is Fall of 2026.

REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Psychology by the time of appointment; published research; potential to attract external funding; and the ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. We seek candidates who show the potential to develop their independent research program and extend existing expertise in the department.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Psychology Department has 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty members. We have an active Ph.D. program and a vibrant research environment. The department has concentrations in Health Psychology, Social and Cultural Psychology, Legal Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Bilingualism Language & Cognition, offering a diversity of research perspectives and ripe opportunities for collaboration. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to and mentor students in the new MPH/Ph.D. program at UTEP offered in collaboration with the department of Public Health Sciences.
