Academic Positions: Assistant/Associate Professor

The Brigham Young University (BYU) Department of Psychology invites applicants of any academic rank to fill four full-time (continuing faculty status) professorial-track positions to begin Fall Semester 2026. We specifically seek applicants in Social or Social/Health Psychology. Our department values student mentoring, a collegial culture, and the ideals of open and reproducible research. We value and embrace the variety of individual characteristics, life experiences and circumstances, perspectives, talents, and gifts of each member of the BYU community and the richness and strength they bring in helping create and support an environment of covenant belonging centered in Jesus Christ. Candidates with experience in and commitment to mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply. 

 Well-qualified candidates will demonstrate strong research skills, a well-defined research agenda, and an established record of peer-reviewed publications and scholarly productivity that includes student mentoring. A PhD in psychology or a related field must be completed by the job start date. Successful candidates will also show commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring, including the ability to teach upper- and lower-level undergraduate and graduate classes. They will also be prepared to engage in citizenship responsibilities in the department, college, and university. Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrine of the affiliated church.
