Research Assistant (Lab Coordinator) - Boston College, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience
Dr. Diane-Jo Bart-Plange at Boston College, Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, invites applications for a Research Assistant that will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the lab. Dr. Bart-Plange will be joining the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience and African and African Diaspora Studies Program as an Assistant Professor starting summer 2024. Dr. Bart-Plange broadly studies the dynamics between structural-level and individual/interpersonal-level racism. Her lab will focus on topics such as gendered colorism, perceptions of racism and other forms of power-based prejudice and discrimination, and how institutions perpetuate inequality broadly. This position will be a full-time, in-person position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled and the anticipated start date is August 2024. The Research Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Dr. Bart-Plange’s lab. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Leading lab meetings with undergraduate research assistants.
· Recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants.
· Administrative duties such as tracking expenses, ordering and maintaining research equipment and software.
· Assisting in conducting research, obtaining human subjects approval, collecting data and providing basic analysis for lab projects, managing lab data.
· Assisting other research staff with statistical/analytical queries.
· Assisting in drafting research memos and communications.
· Preparing charts/graphs and presentations of research findings.
· Providing other research related support, such as library and online research and literature reviews.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a relevant academic discipline by the position start date (August, 2024). Relevant undergraduate student work experience (i.e. undergraduate research assistant), strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Qualtrics, familiarity with R software, experience with data science methods (e.g. web scraping, data cleaning), 2+ years of experience in a social psychology lab and working with human subjects, experiencing managing research data, detail-oriented and able to work independently and work well with others.
Anticipated start date: August 2024
Anticipated Salary: $42,000
