We seek one full-time Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to our NSF funded grant titled Broadening participation and the culture of undergraduate research experiences. You can view the project abstract hereThis one-year position is available as early as July 1, 2024. The project will be in its third year by the position start date, and we are seeking a postdoc to focus on data analysis and dissemination, in close collaboration with the PIs and our former Postdoctoral scholar (who will soon be starting a tenure-track position).

Candidates must have a PhD or be ABD in Psychology to apply (having a Ph.D. upon starting the position is expected), ideally with an emphasis in Social Psychology or related fields (e.g., education). Interest in and familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education research is preferred. All activities will be conducted under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Dustin Thoman (PI), in the Department of Psychology and Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education at San Diego State University (SDSU). Ability to work onsite at SDSU is preferred but not required.

The primary responsibilities of the postdoc will be data analysis and dissemination. The post-doc will also support supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants. This postdoc will contribute to dissemination of the data through reports, presentations and publications. Excellent organization, written, and statistical skills are a must. The project data are multilevel and longitudinal, so experience and demonstrated proficiency with multilevel data analysis and similar complex analyses (e.g., SEM) is required.  Opportunities exist for additional collaborative and independent research projects, including training in grant writing, with access to a large subject pool and laboratory space. The annual salary for this position is $65,000 (non-negotiable) and the position is entitled to full benefits.

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Email CV, the names and contact information for 3 references, and cover letter describing research interests, goals, skills, and experience (e.g., statistics, survey and experimental design, website development, on-line administration of tasks/questionnaires, and any other areas relevant to a busy, productive laboratory) to Dustin Thoman, Ph.D. dthoman@sdsu.edu. For more information on the project, please click here to view the project abstract.
